The Middle is a space where creativity can foster a middle-ground—a meeting place—for a conversation where we can all connect to one another regardless of our differences. At the center of this conversation are the objects created by talented makers from around the world. Launching in the Spring of 2025, The Middle will highlight one maker at a time, introducing a unique collection of objects made exclusively for the project. Each collection will be the result of a close collaboration with a maker, focused on producing pieces that are masterfully crafted, environmentally conscious, and truly one-of-a-kind.
As humans our instinct is to create. As we do this, we effortlessly weave our personal histories, cultures and the places that shape us into the things that we make. I’m interested in how the creative impulse comes to life uniquely for each person. In a world that often prioritizes speed and scalability at the expense of the environment and our own well-being, it is more imperative than ever to value the beauty of handmade objects and encourage the people behind them. This feeling is the reason I started The Middle. The mission of this project is to bring attention to the people who devote themselves to crafts that are perhaps not scalable, but nonetheless have the ability to make a connection with us and evoke feelings of wonder, joy, and inspiration.
